24Mar07
- I
fished the fly fishing section of the Little
Lehigh Creek from 11:30 - 4:00. The
weather was cool with overcast skies.
The stream was flowing roughly twice it's
normal speed at 260 cfs. Recent rains
elevated the stream making the water
discolored. The turbidity of the water
limited the visibility to approximately 1
foot. Fishing was most productive on
the Queen City Hatchery side from the Kiddie
Pool downstream 50 yards. Productive
patterns included size 10 Purple wooly
buggers, size 12 BH Peacock Lite Bright
caddis larvae, size 16 Oliver
Edward's Hydropsyche Larvae and size 18
Brown spotlight emergers. 95% of the
fish were feeding subsurface, but a few were
sucking emergers. Dark midges and
black stoneflies were coming off in small
numbers. Fishing pressure was
moderately heavy with anglers fishing every
30 feet (Hatchery
side). At any one
time, an angler had a fish on.
