27, 28Jan06
- I attended The Fly Fishing Show at the
Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, New
Jersey. This show seemed similar to past
shows with the exception of a few less
retail/fly tying vendors and a few more
presentations; attendance was average.
.
New items I
noticed included
Down-N-Trout Outfitter's
"New Shit" water based high gloss lacquer
for coating fly heads and EZ Body's flex
tubing and
Coastal Fly Rodder's unique
method for attaching tape eyes. The method
involves attaching a small tape eye
off-centered on a glue dot (www.gluedots.com)
and then adding colored foil to the
remaining uncovered section. The glue dots
appear to be very effective at adhering to
deer hair. Glue dots average about
$4.00/300. Also a G.Loomis representative
mentioned a series of two-handed 11' rods
would be available shortly. These rods are
apparently sweet casting rods and may be
additions to the current Cross Current
series. Lastly, Simms has recently marketed
their Elmer Fudd Goretex Extreme hat
available through
The Fly Shop, cost $49.95.
